Hot potato voice

  • Caused by upper airway obstruction
  • Seen in – Peritonsillar Abscess
  • Mechanism – “Hot potato” voice – Muffled voice – secondary to dysfunction of the palatal muscles on the affected side, resulting in velopharyngeal insufficiency
